Overall
Life to Eagle Board of Review “Process”
1.
After
receiving his Life Rank Award, the Scout identifies and
completes an Eagle Service Project using the Eagle Scout
Leadership Service Project Workbook.
2.
The
Scout should complete the Eagle Scout requirements and document
them on the Eagle Scout Rank Application.
3.
The
Scout should complete the rest of the Eagle Application required
personal and leadership information, and his references.
4.
The
Scout completes Requirement 6: Ambitions and Life Purpose . . .
5.
The
Scout then schedules and completes a Scoutmaster conference and
the date is filled in on the form.
6.
The
Scout signs and dates the form.
7.
Then
the unit leader reviews the application and signs and dates the
form.
8.
Then
the unit committee chair reviews the application and signs the
form.
The Scoutmaster and unit committee chair are signing that the
Scout has completed the requirements for Eagle, and that the
information on the Eagle application is both correct and
complete.
9.
When
the form is completely filled out and all required signatures
are on the form; the Scout contacts the District Eagle Chairman
to schedule a meeting to obtain the Eagle chairs signature. All
the Eagle paperwork is to be taken to the District Eagle chair
for review. The required paper work: the Eagle application,
Requirement 6, and the Service Project workbook.
What the District Eagle chair looks for when reviewing the
Scouts application:
a) A current Eagle application is used (Yr. 2000 revision)
b) application filled out completely and accurately,
c) dates for signatures are in the
proper order indicating the reviews occurred in the
proper order,
d) the leadership position is one identified on the required
list,
e) Requirement 6 is adequate – expect goals and ambitions to be
more than just
go to college and get a job, and
f) the Service Project as completed is consistent with the
initial review of the project.
This includes both leadership and project service/benefit.
10.
The Eagle
chair will normally require several days to complete his
review. The Eagle chair reviews the application paperwork to
insure that
1) Eagle application is completed properly and is accurate,
2) that the Service Project was completed to meet the required
leadership and Service
requirements, and
3) Requirement 6 is completed properly.
The Eagle chair also confirms with the Council that the Scout is
registered.
11.
If the
chair has issues with the application paperwork, he will contact
the scout so that they can be addressed. When the chair is
satisfied with the application paperwork, they will sign the
application.
Understand
that in this process, the role of the Eagle chair is to be an
advocate for the Rank of Eagle.
12.
The
paperwork is given back to the Scout and he is informed that he
can contact the unit leader who will arrange for the Eagle Board
of Review. The Scout is also advised and requested to
communicate to their unit leader that the District Eagle chair
needs to included as a member of the
EBOR.
13.
Requirements for the Eagle Board of Review. If these
requirements are not met, the EBOR will need to be rescheduled.
a) The candidate is in uniform,
b) the references have been contacted and interviewed,
